National Carnival Best & Fairest

All divisions have a Best and Fairest awarded.  Recipients of the Best and Fairest award receives either the EJ Whitten Medal (for Men’s divisions) or the Susan Alberti Medal (for all Women’s divisions).  Best and Fairest awards are based on the votes from umpires. The Best & Fairest listing can be viewed here.

Legends and Hall of Fame Nominations

Each year up to three people are inducted into the AFL Masters Hall of Fame.  A independent committee convenes each year to determine a maximum of two current Hall of Fame inductees to be elevated to Legends status based on their exemplary contribution and service to AFL Masters listing of all the Legends and Hall of Fame, the full list for Superules, Masterules and AFL Masters players can be seen here.

Don Dykes Carnival Longest Kick Winners

At each AFL Masters National Carnival, there is a longest kick competition for each age group. Here are the winners from over the years. The record longest kick is 67.2m which was booted in the inaugural drop kick competition in 1984 by Ray Buckley from the NT (subsequently more famous for being the father of former Collingwood legend Nathan Buckley). Don Dykes from Tasmania has won the longest kick title a record 9 times, stretching back from 2003 to his most recent win in 2021. Winners for the years and divisions can be viewed here.

Neil King Sprint Winners

At each AFL Masters National Carnival, there is a sprint competition for each age group. Over 100m for the 35s and 75m for the other age groups. In 2022 the Carnival Sprint was renamed the Neil King Carnival Sprint in honour of Neil’s longstanding contribution to AFL Masters as National General Manager,  winners for all the years and divisions can be viewed here.
