AFL Masters Competition, Heart, Mind and Soul Cup

Canberra's first AFL Masters "Heart, Mind and Soul" competition kicked off on the evening of July 23, 2021. The founding clubs included ACT Masters, ANU Griffins, Australian Command & Staff Course (ACSC), and Weston Creek Wildcats, all competing for the Elysium EPL Heart Mind & Soul AFL Cup. Each club features players aged 35 and older, engaging in a four-round series under the lights at AFL Canberra's home, EPC Solar Park in Phillip.

Elysium EPL, the major sponsor, supported this initiative to promote fun and activity among mature players while raising awareness about health issues that can affect their heart, mind, and soul. Team environments foster hope for those needing support to achieve their next goal.

In 2022, the foundation clubs ANU Griffins, ACSC, and the 2022 Premier team, Weston Creek Wildcats, were joined by the Belconnen Magpies. The competition also expanded to include two new women's representative teams, the Southern Stars and the Northern Flames, highlighting the importance of growth in women's Masters footy alongside the men's HMS Cup.
